This is my first post. The kids are running around the house playing football. I know, why am I letting them play football in the house. We live in Florida and it's hot outside! They aren't throwing the ball, just chasing each other and doing a "safe" tackle to the oldest. He is such a good big brother. How many 13 year old boys like to play with his younger siblings? He makes them feel loved. He makes me so proud of him.
The boys are trying to get all of their schoolwork done weekly by Thursday afternoon. I don't know their motivation, but as long as it is done, legible, and they have learned what I have set out to teach, it is fine with me. I am making the two older boys do handwriting daily, now. Why? My boys seem to think that they can form their letters whatever way they like. Who cares that manuscript was already in effect long before they were even conceived? So it's back to basics. That's the beauty of homeschooling.... If I feel they are lacking in some skill, I can drop everything or add a lesson to tackle that problem.
I had an encounter with a high school aged girl in Publix yesterday. As she was checking out my two items, she looked at my four blessings with disdain in her eyes and asked were they all mine. I of course, answered yes, but added that all five of them were mine, while rubbing my eight week preggo belly. Her eyes bulged and she asked was I crazy, why was I doing this again. I told her that I wasn't crazy, and that all of my kids are blessings and that my husband and I would accept however many God gives us. She went on and on, and concluded that she was only going to have two kids, at the most, and that she was too conceited to even risk getting stretch marks! I ended that conversation by telling her that I would pray for her. Too bad my babies had to see the disdain some of the world feels for children.
Well, that's life. At the end of the day we need to make sure we have impacted someone's life positively and shown the love of God to those we encounter.
