Finally! A schedule that fits.

The Lord has heard my prayers and answered as always. I have been trying forever to develop a schedule that we would follow, and one that seemed natural. Well, it looks like we have one that is going to work. Sure, it has only been three days, and two of those days we did start late, but it has worked. My lovely husband requested awhile ago that we start our day at 8am (I definitely protested that one, and lost). So we are up at 8 and breakfast, grooming, and chores are done by 9:30am. School starts at 9:30am. So the kids have been instructed to be upstairs in the schoolroom at that time with Bibles ready. They are doing it with no complaints (can you see my happy dance)! I've decided that school will be from 9:30am- 4pm Monday thru Friday. We have a long day because Jaylem is doing High School , so he needs the time. Savion, Mikaela, Mekhi, and Darion are usually done by 2pm, which is our "quiet time (2pm-4pm)", so that works out great. That gives me time to work with Jaylem, one on one, without any interruptions. Then at 4pm they clean up the schoolroom while I prep snack and dinner if it is not already in the crockpot. Each night before bed they are to get out their "school clothes". This was my mom's idea, since she noticed the kids were not getting into 'school' mode. Now they are getting dressed each morning, down to shoes and socks, and it has made a difference. It will also come in handy when we have to go to the store in the afternoons, or if we need to run out during the day; there will be no getting dressed delays. Thanks, mommy!

I have been going downstairs to prepare lunch at 11am. It takes me an hour because I want to give them something warm and filling since it is cold now. Really, it takes so long because I bring Darion down with me so he doesn't get into anything or distract the boys from doing their schoolwork. I think I need to bring Mekhi down, too. He calls down every 3 minutes asking what I'm making for lunch, because it smells good! That little boy is hilarious.

Well, I have 30 minutes left of quiet time and Jaylem is done with school, what to do....

"O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever." Psalm 136:1
